Troubleshooting

The failures that actually happen, and what to do about each.

The tool says "no property matches that id"

Almost always one of three things.

  • You passed a raw sc-domain:acme.com instead of a ScopeMCP propertyId. Call scopemcp_list_properties and use what it returns.
  • The source is not connected yet. Open Settings → Sources.
  • The property belongs to a different provider than the tool reads. A Bing propertyId will not work in a Search Console tool.

URL inspection returns 403

The URL Inspection API must be enabled in your Google Cloud project, and the property must be a real property in an account you control. A URL-prefix property for a directory works; a domain property for a site you only own in another account does not.

Also check that the property is not a sc-domain: entry for a domain you have not verified.

URL inspection returns 429

Per-property quota, and it is a daily budget rather than a per-minute one. Stop calling it in a loop. gsc_inspect_urls exists for batch checks and issues them sequentially with a delay, which is the right way to stay inside the quota.

The competitor engine says quota exhausted

The free Programmable Search tier is 100 result pages per UTC day and it resets at midnight UTC, not at a rolling hour. Cached pages and monitors reading stored snapshots do not consume it.

If you need more than that regularly, the honest options are a paid Programmable Search tier or self-hosting with your own key. There is no in-product purchase for it.

Bing returns no sites

Bing Webmaster Tools lists only sites the connected Microsoft account has verified. If you verified with a different account, connect that one. Also note that Bing data is bucketed weekly and updated weekly, so a brand new site may show nothing for a few days.

Analytics 4 returns thresholded values

GA4 withholds or combines metrics when too few users were active, and the report flags this with thresholdingApplied. Values under thresholding are not exact. Do not build a trend on them; wait for more traffic or use Search Console instead.

CrUX says there is no data

Expected for anything but a reasonably popular page. CrUX needs enough real users to bucket a percentile. The tool returns hasData: false with an explicit note, and the health score excludes the Core Web Vitals component rather than scoring it as perfect.

A report numbers do not match Search Console

Usually the window. ScopeMCP ends windows three days before today because Search Console data lags, and it reports the exact dates in meta.window. Check them first.

Second most common: the row cap. When the API truncates the result set, the returned totals are a floor rather than the property total, and the report says so.

Monitors are not firing

  • Check the monitor is enabled and look at its next run time. A missed window delays a run rather than firing a catch-up.
  • Check the scheduler is actually being called. GET /api/cron/monitors with your secret returns a health check.
  • Email delivery needs RESEND_API_KEY. Without it the alert stays in-app and the delivery result says so.

Something looks like a bug

Include the tool name, the propertyId, the meta block from the response, and the meta.window you expected. That is almost always enough to reproduce it. If it is a genuine defect, the whole thing is open source and the fix is welcome.
